Naturally, to be a fifth-generation family business owner is something to be proud of. It’s not something you think about every day, but this year marks 150 years since my great-grandfather became a master blacksmith and started his own forge. Since then, the business has continued from generation to generation.
Curiosity, commitment and constant development are perhaps the main reasons for the long-term success of the business. My great-great-grandfather, blacksmith master Per Andersson, needed to have a very good understanding of the customer’s needs in order to deliver top-class products. And that also applies today.
The development of the business comes from a constant focus on customer satisfaction and partnership. Since 1869, the customer has always been our focus. From the hammer and anvil to advanced machining and robotic welding operations, from horseshoes and straw balers to the world’s largest lifting cranes and wind turbines. Curiosity and the customer perspective have also led to the development of new business ideas over the years.
This book provides an overview of the development of our entrepreneurship in the 150 years that have passed since 1869. Some of it is, of course, hidden from past generations, but we hope that what we remember and have researched will provide an interesting overview.
